PRIDE

PRIDE

The PRIDE programme aims to combine geological and fossil data, climate-lake modelling with DNA and ecological information about Pontocaspian biota, to identify environmental drivers of past biodiversity change in order to evaluate the causes, severity and future prospects of the current Pontocaspian biodiversity crisis. Here you can read about the background of the programme.

The programme is organised in three research/training work packages (WPs): WP1 is about Quaternary Pontocaspian lake system evolution, WP2 deals with the documentation of biodiversity change in the Quaternary record and WP3 targets the Anthropocene biodiversity crisis. Each WP contains five projects, and description of all 15 projects can be found here. Finally, we manage this extensive programme through a fourth WP that is about management.
